Amaravati scam: YSRC lobbying for CBI probe!

The YSRCP has decided to go all out for an inquiry by CBI into the alleged illegal land transactions in and around Amaravati between June and December, 2014 in anticipation of it being declared as capital region.

YSRC president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is learnt to have given clear instructions to his party MPs to step up their lobbying with the Centre to see that the latter order a full-fledged CBI probe into the Amaravati land scam.

Jagan is said to have asked the MPs to raise the issue repeatedly during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament and extensively circulate the copies of the cabinet sub-committee constituted to look into the illegal land dealings in Amaravati by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh and various other TDP leaders.

While probing into the process of land pooling, the cabinet sub-committee found that there was a lot insider trading in the land dealings.

Persons privy to the likely location of capital purchased lands in the region just prior to the formal official declaration, the committee said.

A verification of registration records revealed that at least 4069.94 acres of land was purchased by these people and their benamis between June 1 and December 31, 2014 at nominal prices.

As per the records, 530.69 acres were bought in June, 685.34 acres in July, 353.03 acres in August, 567.26 acres in September, 564.91 acres in October, 836.81 acres in November and 531.90 acres in December.

Those who had bought lands include Chandrababu Naidu and his family, Vemuru Ravi Kumar Prasad, a close associate of Nara Lokesh, Paritala Sunitha, Lingamaneni Ramesh, P Keshav, Lanka Dinakar, K Sridhar, D Narendra, K Rammohan Rao, P Pulla Rao, K Siva Prasad Rao, D Narendra Chowdhary and others.

“It was based on the above-mentioned irregularities and sets of evidence that the Cabinet Sub-Committee recommended the Government to immediately take appropriate steps under the civil and criminal laws to bring the wrong doers to book in the larger interest of the state,” the party sources said.
