Amaravati farmers plan Chalo Assembly!

The plans of the YSR Congress party government headed by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to form the three capitals for Andhra Pradesh with administrative capital at Visakhapatnam are almost reaching the climax stage.

The high-power ministerial committee constituted to look into the reports of G N Rao committee and Boston Consulting Group and work out the road map for the capital shift submitted its report to the chief minister on Friday.

The report will be discussed in the state cabinet and introduced in the assembly on Monday.

As the deadline is fast approaching, tension is mounting among the farmers of Amaravati who are now getting ready to fight a do-or-die battle.

They are now planning to storm the state assembly on Monday to stall the passage of the relevant acts to shift the capital from Amaravati.

The Amaravati Joint Action Committee gave a call for “Chalo Assembly” on January 20 in the wake of assembly session and urged the farmers and women for large-scale mobilization of public to the Chalo Assembly rally.

“We have no option but to fight out against the capital shift under any circumstances,” the JAC leaders said.

The opposition parties TDP, Jana Sena and BJP, are backing the protests held by the Amaravati JAC. On Friday, the opposition parties took part in the bike rally following a call given by the JAC. Nara Lokesh, CPI Narayana and other leaders took part in the bike rally.

The police are making all efforts to set up tight security to avoid any untoward incidents.
