Alarming Fact: Pak Journalists In International Media

Alarming Fact: Pak Journalists In International Media

A striking revelation has come to light about the composition of journalists and columnists shaping international media narratives on South Asia.

It has been observed that almost all the popular journalists working in leading global news organizations are of Pakistani origin.

This has raised eyebrows in India, where media professionals tend to remain largely focused within national borders, while much of the youth pursue careers in software and IT sectors abroad rather than journalism.

This trend is seen as a significant setback for India’s presence in international media discourse.

Many experts believe this imbalance has contributed to a predominance of pro-Pakistan perspectives in international coverage during recent conflicts between the two countries.

While some have wondered about the reasons behind the apparently skewed media narrative, the fact that many influential foreign correspondents writing about South Asia come from Pakistani backgrounds sheds light on the situation.

Journalists such as Adnan Aamir (Nikkei Asia), Sophia Saifi (CNN), Salman Masood (New York Times), Zia Ur Rehman (New York Times), Asif Shahzad (Reuters), Idrees Ali (Reuters), Kamran Haider (Bloomberg UK), and Saeed Shah (Wall Street Journal and Reuters) are some notable names of Pakistani origin active in major international media outlets.

Their writings often project viewpoints that appear to favor Pakistan, influencing the global narrative on South Asian issues.

This revelation calls for introspection in India about encouraging young talent to pursue journalism seriously and engage with international media to present a more balanced perspective on regional affairs.
