ABV Writes To Govt On Defamation Suit

Senior IPS officer, A B Venkateswara Rao, who is under suspension, wrote a letter to the state government on Monday seeking permission to file defamation cases.

He sought the permission of the General Administration Department to file the cases against MLA Chevireddi Bhaskara Reddy and govt Chief PRO Pudi Srihari, besides Sakshi paper, TV and its editor Vardhelli Murali.

ABV alleged that Srihari had released a six-page power point presentation against him with false allegations, which were widely reported by the Sakshi and other media houses.

However, he said that none of the allegations were mentioned in the notice given to him by the state government indicating that the charges were baseless.

He wanted the State government to give him clearance to proceed against the MLA and the CPRO, besides the Sakshi group and its editor.

He marked a copy of the letter to chief secretary Sameer Sharma and requested the government to give him permission.

Two days ago, ABV wrote a letter to the state government stating that his suspension period expired in February this year. As it was not further extended, he wanted the government to lift the suspension as per the rules.
