Mahi V Raghav, known for his popular web shows "Shaitan" and "Save The Tiger" on Disney Plus Hotstar, is returning with the sequel to his political drama "Yatra."
While the first film focused on the late politician YS Rajasekhar Reddy's padayatra leading to his first term as Chief Minister, the sequel centers around his son, YS Jaganmohan Reddy, the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
The film is being produced by Shiva Meka under V Celluloid in collaboration with Mahi V Raghav's production banner, Three Autumn Leaves. Santhosh Narayanan will compose the music for the biopic, which will feature cinematography by renowned technician Madhie.
The first poster of "Yatra 2" was recently unveiled, and today, the motion poster was released, giving a glimpse of the film's premise.
The motion poster begins with a panoramic shot of a hand-shaped statue, where a politician addresses the crowd, referring to them as his brothers, sisters, and family members.
Accompanied by Santosh Narayanan's powerful background score, the glimpse focuses on the footsteps of YS Jagan, who later declares to the masses, "You may not know me now, but remember that I am the son of YS Rajasekhar Reddy."
Selva Kumar serves as the art director for the film. Tamil actor Jiiva is expected to portray YS Jagan in the drama, and a formal announcement regarding this is expected soon.
"Yatra 2" is set to release worldwide in February 2024, ahead of the Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly elections. Additional lead actors for the film will be confirmed in the near future.
The prequel, "Yatra," starred Mammootty in the lead role, along with Anasuya Bharadwaj, Suhasini, and Jagapathi Babu.
It was produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy and released in theaters on February 8, 2019. It's worth noting that filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is also working on a film about YS Jagan's life titled "Vyooham," which recently generated some controversy with its teaser.
