Why The Satellite Rights Of 'OG' Not Yet Sold?

Why The Satellite Rights Of 'OG' Not Yet Sold?

The satellite rights of Pawan Kalyan's film "They Call Him OG" are yet to be sold.

Despite the film being projected as a potential blockbuster, there are still no buyers from the satellite television side. This has come as a surprise in film trade circles, where big star films usually attract television deals much before release.

Not only this film, but there are few other successful films that have not received any deals or proposals from the satellite side. In fact, even after approaching television channels, these films failed to secure buyers for their satellite rights.

Industry insiders say this situation reflects a larger change in the entertainment market. The traditional satellite rights business, which once brought huge revenues to producers, is no longer an avenue.

Many television channels are currently operating with tight budgets and are not willing to spend big amounts on film acquisitions.

As a result, producers are finding it difficult to close satellite deals even for major films. The value that television once offered to big projects is steadily shrinking.

Channels are becoming more cautious about spending, especially as viewership patterns continue to shift toward digital platforms.

At present, OTT rights are the only considerable revenue source for many films. However, OTT platforms are also dictating terms and negotiating hard.

In many cases, deals are closing at around fifty percent or even less than the prices initially expected by producers of big star movies as well. This is the new reality that the film industry is slowly coming to terms with.
