Why did Jagan ignore wishing Chiru on birthday?

Megastar Chiranjeevi celebrated his 66th birthday on Sunday and he was flooded with wishes from all parts of the Telugu states and even the country.

While some called him up and greeted him on his birthday, others conveyed their best wishes through social media platform.

But one person who was expected to wish Chiranjeevi on his birthday but preferred to ignore it was YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

It was learnt there was neither telephonic call nor a tweet from Jagan to the megastar till late in the night.

This has come as a surprise to many, as Chiranjeevi is considered to be very close to Jagan.

Soon after Jagan became the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, the megastar came down all the way to Vijayawada along with his wife to personally congratulate Jagan on his stupendous victory.

Jagan felicitated Chiranjeevi and his wife and even hosted lunch for the couple at his residence. And the megastar asked the chief minister to watch his film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

In June last year, too, Chiranjeevi along with Nagarjuna and others met the chief minister to discuss the problems of the Telugu film industry in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic.

There are reports last week that Jagan had called Chiranjeevi to come to Vijaywada along with others to discuss the issues of Tollywood.

Under these circumstances, it was rather surprising that Jagan completely ignored Chiranjeevi’s birthday and did not posted a tweet to greet the latter.

Generally, Jagan doesn’t forget wishing VIPs like Chiranjeevi on their birthdays. But he doesn’t do it personally.

There is a team in the CMO to look after such issues – like wishing someone on their birthdays or expressing condolences if any prominent person dies or greeting the people on festivals etc.

Such wishes or condolences in the name of the chief minister have to happen automatically, irrespective of whether the social media team in the CMO gets instructions from Jagan or not.

“It might not have struck to Jagan that Sunday happens to be Chiranjeevi’s birthday. It is the responsibility of the CMO officials to remind him about such occasions and the social media team in the CMO to issue statements on Jagan’s behalf greeting the megastar,” a YSRC leader observed.

So, it is the failure of the CMO team to forget issuing a statement greeting Chiranjeevi.

The team should have reacted at least on seeing Jagan’s rival and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s tweet extending birthday wishes to the megastar!
