Have heroines really become so expensive, or are they quoting shocking figures just to avoid certain projects? That’s the question doing the rounds in the industry.
These days, paying ₹2 crore to a star heroine has become quite common. Even those delivering back-to-back flops are still charging such amounts, purely based on their existing craze.
But what’s surprising is that even a lesser-known actress, someone not really in the limelight and hardly remembered unless her name is mentioned, is now demanding over ₹1 crore.
This particular actress, who has Telugu roots, has found some success in Kollywood and is mostly working there.
She occasionally appears in Telugu films, but only if she gets a strong role. She avoids routine parts like “3 songs and 6 scenes” and prefers roles with some substance. Recently, she also acted alongside a senior hero.
Now, a young director approached her for a film. He has a strong horror subject, where the entire story revolves around the heroine. The plan was to make it on a minimum budget and recover costs through an OTT deal.
While the producers were working out these practical calculations, the actress reportedly shocked them by demanding ₹1.5 crore as her remuneration.
She reportedly said there would be no issues from her side regarding call sheets and added that she follows a “package system.” The director was left confused, wondering what exactly this “package” meant.
The industry currently has plenty of good low-budget stories that only need a face with some recognition. But the moment that face gains a bit of value, the remuneration shoots up drastically.
Everyone seems to be overestimating their market value, and this actress is now being cited as a perfect example of that trend.
