Yash Raj Films has a long history of featuring its heroines in bikinis; from Sonam in Vijay (1988) to Deepika Padukone in Pathaan. But in War 2, that streak has been cut short.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has ordered Kiara Advani’s bikini scene to be reduced by 50%. Originally lasting 18 seconds, the shot has now been trimmed to just 9 seconds.
A close friend of Kiara and her husband Sidharth Malhotra remarked sarcastically, “So 18 seconds corrupts the nation, but 9 seconds doesn’t?”
Kiara shot the sequence before her pregnancy, maintaining a strict diet and workout routine to achieve the look.
Interestingly, Deepika Padukone’s swimsuit scenes have also faced similar cuts from the CBFC in the past.
