On August 6, 2025, actor Vijay Deverakonda appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Hyderabad in relation to a case concerning betting app promotions.
After his questioning, Vijay addressed the media, stating that he had promoted A23, a legal gaming app, not a betting platform.
He explained to ED officials that gaming and betting apps are distinct, with the former being recognized and regulated in several Indian states.
Vijay emphasized that he had cooperated fully with the investigation by providing his bank transaction records and a copy of the agreement with the A23 company.
He also clarified that the app he promoted is not even accessible in Telangana, reinforcing his stand that it was a legal engagement. Despite a media frenzy outside the ED office, his team initially asked for privacy.
He is one of 30 celebrities reportedly summoned in connection with the case.
Actor Prakash Raj also appeared earlier, sharing that he had declined involvement with a betting app on moral grounds.
