Veteran film critic Gudipudi Srihar is no more. He breathed his last on Monday night. He was 88 and survived by a daughter and a son.
He had written reviews and essays in many newspapers including ‘The Hindu’, ‘Sithara’, ‘Eenadu’, and remained active as a film journalist for nearly five decades.
Known for making film criticism accessible to the common man, the veteran Telugu film critic has many fans. Many of our leading actors and directors loved his work.
Srihari was also a news broadcaster on All India Radio. His popular satirical column ‘Harivillu’ ran for 25 years.
Gudipudi Srihari also contributed to GreatAndhra. In fact, he was the first critic on the website. He wrote reviews for GreatAndhra.com until 2006. With his passing, an era has ended in Telugu film journalism.
