Trade: Disputes Surrounding MSG Collection Claims

Trade: Disputes Surrounding MSG Collection Claims

Mana Shankara Vara Prasad garu is a triumphant hit, and there is no dispute about that.

The producers have earned good money, and all the distributors are happy with good profits. Even the overflow returns are working in favor of the producers.

The film is undoubtedly the highest grosser in Chiranjeevi’s filmography. It would be good if the claims stopped there, as that is a genuine and unquestionable achievement. However, the film team has started releasing statements that are raising concerns.

One such claim is that it is an “ALL-TIME INDUSTRY HIT in regional cinema.” What exactly does this mean?

If it means the film has broken all records among non–pan-India films, then there are several films ahead of it.

Even among Sankranthi releases alone, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo stands above it. If only Sankranthi releases from Tollywood are considered, then Hanuman and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo are both ahead of it.

Making unreasonable claims only prompts netizens to dig deeper into the collection details and results in trolling.

When the numbers are examined, netizens are pointing out that Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo collected over Rs 20 crores in the Uttarandhra area, while Shankara Vara Prasad has collected less than Rs 17 crores so far.

In Guntur, the former collected Rs 10 crores, whereas this film has collected just over Rs 8 crores. In Krishna district, Shankara Vara Prasad collected only Rs 8.5 crores, while the Allu Arjun starrer collected close to Rs 10 crores.

In Nizam, the Allu Arjun film collected Rs 42 crores, whereas Shankara Vara Prasad has not yet crossed even Rs 35 crores. Even abroad, Hanuman did better than Shankara Vara Prasad.

Therefore, it is important to make reasonable, accurate and authentic claims rather than exaggerated ones.
