Toxic First Review Sparks Row, Fans Cry 'Propaganda'

Toxic First Review Sparks Row, Fans Cry 'Propaganda'

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on March 19, with Kannada superstar Yash returning to cinemas after the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2.

Expectations are sky-high, and the film’s box-office prospects and critical reception are being closely watched.

The first teaser introduced Yash as Raya, a ruthless gangster, and quickly went viral for its bold and sexually explicit visuals.

A follow-up teaser released ahead of the trailer further fuelled buzz and was largely well received by fans.

Amid growing excitement, the film’s first “review” triggered controversy after being shared by outspoken film critic and content creator Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KRK.

In a post on social media, KRK claimed that a friend had watched Toxic in the editing room and described it as “the worst film ever made in India,” adding that despite its reported ₹500 crore-plus budget, it was “difficult to watch even for 30 minutes.” He also alleged that Yash had complete control over the film.

The post quickly drew backlash from fans, many of whom accused KRK of deliberately targeting the film without having watched it himself.

Several users trolled him for spreading what they called “false propaganda” and questioned the credibility of a review based on hearsay.

Some fans even claimed that the negative chatter was being driven by rival camps, dubbing it an organised attempt to bring down Toxic.

“If he says it’s the worst, that only means it’s the best,” one user commented sarcastically. Another wrote that only Toxic’s success would silence “Bollywood bad-mouthing” for good.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features a star-studded cast including Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.

With strong pre-release buzz and polarising early reactions, the film has clearly become one of the most talked-about releases of the year.
