The ticket bookings for Coolie and War 2 are happening. Both the films have got the permission to hike the ticket prices only in Andhra Pradesh but not Telangana.
But why should such drama continue? Andhra Pradesh could simply allow every film to set ticket prices as per demand and supply.
By doing so, the government would still earn taxes. After all, cinema is not a compulsory necessity like rice, salt, or vegetables where the government needs to control prices.
It was Pawan Kalyan who once lamented that Jagan Mohan Reddy, the then CM of Andhra Pradesh, was playing power games by making film producers stand before him with folded hands for ticket price hikes each time.
But what is he doing now as the present Deputy CM of AP?
Is he not repeating the same mistake by wishing to see every producer stand before him seeking permission to hike ticket prices. This is hypocrisy.
For the past year, every producer has been granted ticket price hikes in AP. That’s fine. But why is it necessary to seek permission every single time?
Why can’t a system be set up to fix the price and make it a standard practice, instead of approaching for approval each time?
Everyone enjoys power. Some feel satisfied when popular people stand before them, seeking permissions.
That is why governments often deny complete freedom, preferring to see people pleading rather than acting independently. A pitiable state of mind indeed.
