Prabhas’ stardom in the Telugu states is truly phenomenal, and it was clearly evident from the situation that prevailed last night in Telangana.
Since the GO from the Telangana government did not come in time, the premier shows were not listed on BookMyShow.
Many believed that there would be no paid premiere shows at all. However, several fans lingered around theatres and nearby areas until 11pm, hoping that shows would eventually open.
Finally, the shows were opened on BookMyShow after 11 pm for 11:20 pm screenings. It was obvious that those present at theatres thronged the ticket counters to secure tickets.
Meanwhile, fans who were at home were unable to book online due to technical glitches or other issues. Left with no choice, they rushed to theatres.
They literally ran to the counters, pushed through crowds, fought for tickets, and shouted wildly, much like film buffs did a couple of decades ago before online ticketing became common.
If shows opened at 11 pm and almost all theatres turned houseful by 11:30 pm, that alone measures Prabhas’ stardom.
Had the producers not waited for the GO and screened shows from 9 pm to 11 pm, they would have minted money even at regular ticket prices.
