That Dialogue Inspired AKT Title: Mahesh Babu

Ram Pothineni’s Andhra King Taluka will hit cinemas in just three days, on November 27th, and expectations are already high for the film directed by Mahesh Babu P.

The director explains that the title Andhra King Taluka carries significant meaning.

“You’ll understand it when you watch the film. The story is set in 2002, when both states were still united. That’s why the title fits so well. We are also releasing the film in Kannada with the same title.”

Mahesh Babu reveals that Andhra King was originally considered as the title.

“While writing a scene, there’s a dialogue that asks, ‘Whose Taluka (identity) are you?’ In that moment, I strongly felt the hero’s emotional connection with his identity. That’s how it evolved into Andhra King Taluka.”

He also praises Upendra as an incredible human being.

“I once watched an interview where Rana was speaking to Upendra. In that conversation, Upendra said, ‘I am more real in films than I am outside.’ That line struck me deeply. Immediately, I felt—this is Suriya, the character I had imagined. We approached him for the role. Upendra has hardcore fans, and in Suriya’s character, you’ll see shades of every superstar.”

The director shared that Ram approved the story in a single sitting.

“When I narrated the story to Mythri Movie Makers, they were very excited. Ram has already worked with top directors. He called and asked if I could narrate the story in 20 minutes. I had already written the full script, and I spent the entire night thinking about what to include and what to leave out.

I narrated the story to him; he listened to everything. Later, Mythri Makers called me and said, ‘This is the story he okayed in the very first sitting.’ That made me so happy.”

He also described Ram as a versatile actor, adding that his performances are filled with tremendous energy.
