Kannada superstar Upendra is set to play a movie star in Ram Pothineni’s upcoming film Andhra King Taluka.
In the film, he portrays a character named Surya Kumar, a celebrated actor popularly referred to as the "Andhra King."
During a recent promotional event in Hyderabad, enthusiastic fans began chanting “Andhra King” at Upendra. However, in his signature humble style, he quickly stepped in to clarify the misunderstanding.
“There are Andhra Kings. I’m just portraying a character—that’s all,” he said with a smile.
Sharing the stage with him, acclaimed director Sukumar praised Upendra's influence on his own creative journey.
He credited films like A and Om as major inspirations behind his unique screenplay style, even admitting, “I stole that art from him.”
