A day after Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth’s arrest, Chennai police sources have revealed damning evidence of his alleged involvement in cocaine procurement and use.
Investigators say they have secured documentary proof, including a digital money trail linking the actor to drug dealers.
"Chat records, phone data, and financial transactions point to sustained contact with drug suppliers," a senior officer told media.
Srikanth is also reportedly connected to individuals associated with a drug cartel operating in and out of Tamil Nadu.
The actor was questioned for hours at the Nungambakkam police station before being taken into custody. Blood samples sent for testing confirmed drug use, though the official forensic report is yet to be released.
Srikanth’s name surfaced during the investigation of a drug bust involving two men — Pradeep and John, a Ghana national — caught with cocaine.
Their interrogation led to Prasad, a former AIADMK member, whose arrest after a pub brawl in Chennai opened up a larger drug network under scrutiny. Srikanth was allegedly named by multiple suspects in this case.
Debuting in 2002 with Roja Kootam, Srikanth has acted in nearly 70 films, including Shankar’s Nanban, the Tamil remake of Three Idiots.
His legal team has yet to issue a formal statement. A Chennai court has remanded him to judicial custody until July 7.
The incident has reignited political blame games, with AIADMK and BJP accusing the ruling DMK of failing to curb drug activity. The DMK responded by stating that the arrest proves the law is being enforced without bias.
Police maintain that Tamil Nadu remains one of India’s least-affected states by drug abuse.
