Social Media Backlash Prompts Director to Issue Clarification

Social Media Backlash Prompts Director to Issue Clarification

The release of the second single "Aura of Ustaad" from Ustaad Bhagat Singh has triggered strong reactions online.

A section of fans expressed disappointment over what they described as outdated rhyming patterns like “Meda Toda” and old-style beats composed by Devi Sri Prasad.

Beyond musical criticism, the song also sparked political debate.

Supporters and social media handles aligned with YSR Congress Party pointed out what they perceived as political undertones in the lyrics, questioning whether cinema and politics were being mixed.

The discussion gained traction because Pawan Kalyan has, in the past, stated that he prefers to keep politics and cinema separate. As the online chatter intensified, director Harish Shankar released a video clarification.

“I felt like saying this,” Harish Shankar began, addressing the controversy directly.

“Pawan Kalyan garu stressed that politics and cinema are entirely different. He believes that cinema is meant for entertainment and should be seen by one and all. That is why even though he ideologically differs with Prakash Raj, he never hesitated working with him either in Vakeel Saab or in this film. He always believes that ideological differences should not come in the way of filmmaking. Ustaad Bhagat Singh doesn’t target any political party or politician nor criticize or troll any party or person,” Harish Shankar said.

With the clarification now out, the makers appear keen to shift the focus back to the film’s entertainment value rather than political interpretations. Whether the statement will calm the ongoing debate remains to be seen.
