'Salaar' Censor Issue: 'A' Certificate To U/A?

'Salaar' Censor Issue: 'A' Certificate To U/A?

The film 'Salaar,' featuring Prabhas, is scheduled for release in the third week of this month, as previously announced. However, the Censor Board has assigned an 'A' certificate, citing violence as the primary reason.

In response, the makers have initiated the process of re-certification, which is currently underway, and the final censor certificate is expected soon.

It's noteworthy how a film can secure an 'A' certificate solely based on violence, especially when films like 'Aadikeshava' received a U/A rating despite depicting abominable violence, including beheadings.

In contemporary cinema, Telugu films with horror elements, such as 'Ma Oori Polimera' and 'Mangalaravam,' often receive 'A' ratings. Similarly, 'Animal' was designated with an 'A' certificate due to violence and obscenity.

The creators of 'Salaar' are eager to obtain a 'U/A' certificate, aiming to attract family audiences, particularly considering the film's release during the Christmas holiday season. This strategy aims to ensure a significant box office collection.

Following the precedent set by the 'Animal' film, there's a concern that family audiences may shy away from movies with an 'A' rating. The makers of 'Salaar' are keen to avert such a scenario.
