Runtime Is No Barrier When Storytelling Works

Runtime Is No Barrier When Storytelling Works

Audiences are not blatantly rejecting long-duration films. For years, movies running beyond three hours were assumed to be a deterrent for theatre crowds.

However, recent releases prove that when the content has enough strength to hold attention, viewers enjoy longer films without any complaint.

Whether it is Pushpa 2, Animal, Baahubali: The Epic, or the latest Dhurandhar, all of which run for more than three hours, audiences did not stay away out of fear of fatigue.

They may mention the long duration as a concern, but they do not treat it as a deterrent.

Instead, they embraced these films because they delivered compelling drama, emotional engagement and strong cinematic moments.

Ultimately, the acceptance of long films depends on the power of the casting and, more importantly, the narrative strength of the director.

If the storytelling is gripping, audiences are willing to sit through even extended runtimes and come out satisfied.
