Director Ram Gopal Varma has predicted a record-breaking future for Dhurandhar 2, calling it the biggest multi-starrer ever in Indian cinema.
His comments come as Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, continues its extraordinary run at the box office even six weeks after release.
The film, led by Ranveer Singh, is still breaking records, and its massive success has inspired Varma to openly praise its impact.
In a detailed post on X, he explained his view of true stardom and why the sequel will be even bigger.
According to Varma, every character in the first film has grown enormously in the audience’s mind. He said that while some roles may have seemed small or big in the first part, all of them have now become “giant superstars” because of their impact.
For this reason, he believes Dhurandhar 2 will become the biggest multi-starrer ever made.
This is not the first time Varma has praised Dhurandhar. Soon after the film’s release on December 5, he wrote another long post describing it as a path-breaking and “monstrous” hit.
He said such films often make industry insiders uncomfortable because they find it hard to match those standards. As a result, they tend to ignore such films and hope they fade away.
Varma also pointed out that many so-called pan-India big-budget films currently in production were planned based on older formulas, which Dhurandhar has completely challenged.
He added that the film is not just a massive hit but also one of the most discussed Indian films in decades.
At the domestic box office, Dhurandhar has already collected ₹871.90 crore and is still going strong.
The film features a powerful ensemble cast including Sara Arjun, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Gaurav Gera, Rakesh Bedi, and others, further adding to its multi-starrer appeal.
