For the past couple of days, social media has been buzzing with reports that ace filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli has finalized “Varanasi” as the title for his upcoming global adventure film starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra.
The director had earlier confirmed that a title glimpse would be unveiled in November, further fueling anticipation.
According to industry buzz, the teaser cut has already been sent to the VFX team with the working title Varanasi.
However, Rajamouli and his team have chosen to remain tight-lipped about these rumors, neither confirming nor denying the speculation.
So far, the highly anticipated project has been referred to as SSMB29 or GlobeTrotter.
Given the film’s mythological undertones and reports that the sacred city of Varanasi plays a key role in the narrative, many believe the title fits perfectly with Rajamouli’s vision.
Produced by K.L. Narayana under the Durga Arts banner, the film is being mounted on a staggering ₹1100 crore budget.
It is going to be the most expensive production in Indian cinema history.
