After Sumanth and Naga Chaitanya, Nagarjuna becomes the third hero from the Akkineni family to collaborate with director Sekhar Kammula.
His upcoming film Kuberaa, co-starring Dhanush and Rashmika Mandanna, is set to release tomorrow.
Nagarjuna shared that he had been waiting for an opportunity to work with Sekhar Kammula for a long time and even spoke with his son Naga Chaitanya before signing Kuberaa.
“I spoke with Chay, especially since he had worked with Sekhar on Love Story. He told me Sekhar would present me in a new light and that I’d enjoy the process, and he was right.”
He stated that Kubera carries a strong and relevant message for society.
“Sekhar Kammula had this idea for a long time. The story urges every individual to reflect on what is right and what is wrong. It’s a clash between three societal classes—the ultra-rich, the middle class, and those below the poverty line.”
Nagarjuna also spoke about his role in the film.
“I play a CBI officer from a middle-class background who finds himself caught between right and wrong. My character is aware that his actions are not always justifiable, but he's driven by family pressures and other circumstances. It’s a character with multiple shades.”
He praised his co-stars, stating that Dhanush fully immersed himself in his role, while Rashmika’s character brings a lot of charm and relatability to the film.
“Dhanush is the kind of actor who transforms completely for a role. We had many deep conversations during shooting breaks. Rashmika, on the other hand, looks refreshing and plays a woman from a lower-middle-class background. Her role is very entertaining.”
The senior actor also praised producers Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao.
“The producers were extremely supportive and provided everything Sekhar Kammula needed. They were genuinely committed to making a film on a grand scale with me.”
Nagarjuna also expressed strong confidence in the film’s success at the box office.
