Pawan Kalyan: Remakes Helped Me Run the Party

Actor and politician Pawan Kalyan, often criticized as the "Remake King" of Telugu cinema, has finally responded to long-standing jabs that he only chooses remake projects and avoids experimenting with original stories.

Addressing these remarks, Pawan candidly explained that remakes were a strategic choice, not a creative limitation.

"People constantly criticize me for doing remakes. But what do they expect me to do? We don’t have many top directors available. Everyone looked at me as someone who could bring in money quickly with remakes. If I hadn’t done them, where would the funds come from to run the party? Who would support my family? Remakes became the easiest path for me to sustain the party,” he said.

Pawan clarified that he didn't avoid original stories out of fear or inability, but due to practical needs — primarily to fund his political journey.

Reflecting on his career, he admitted, “If there’s one mistake I made in films, it was delivering a flop. After that failure, I lost my grip on the industry. But then Trivikram came back into my life with Jalsa and gave me a hit that helped me bounce back.”

Through his statement, Pawan Kalyan offered rare insight into the balancing act between cinema and politics, and how remakes became a means of survival and support for his larger goals.
