The blockbuster Malayalam film Thudarum is all set to premiere on OTT this week.
Though it was initially planned for a digital release shortly after its theatrical debut in April, the movie's impressive box office performance led to a delay in its OTT arrival.
Now, JioCinema has officially announced that the film will begin streaming on May 30.
Starring Mohanlal, Thudarum is a gripping thriller in the vein of Drishyam, but is said to be even more emotionally resonant.
Thanks to strong word of mouth, the film crossed ₹100 crore in Kerala alone, and has grossed another ₹100 crore overseas and in other Indian states.
Interestingly, instead of being remade in other languages, Thudarum will be released in multiple languages directly on OTT — including Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi — potentially limiting its remake prospects.
The Telugu dubbed version was quietly released in theatres earlier but didn’t receive adequate promotion.
Other OTT releases this week include the third installment of HIT on Netflix, premiering May 30. Criminal Justice: A Family Matter will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from May 29. Korean drama Goodbye will begin streaming on Prime Video from May 31.
Plenty of content awaits streaming audiences across languages and genres this week.
