Not ashamed of the tweet, won't delete it: Khushbu

On Saturday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Khushbu Sundar defended a 2018 tweet she posted while in the Congress party.

She stated, "I am not ashamed of the 'Modi' tweet posted when I was in the Congress party. I was only following the leader and speaking the language of the party then," during an interview with PTI.

Khushbu had been attacked by Congress for her tweet in 2018 that criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which she wrote, "...Let's change the meaning of #Modi to corruption..suits better."

Khushbu, who is now a member of BJP's national executive committee, explained that she was following the Congress party's orders and speaking the language of their leader.

She refused to delete the tweet and questioned the Congress party's "desperation" in bringing up a five-year-old post.

The tweet gained attention in light of the recent controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from Parliament.

Congress leaders shared the tweet on social media and asked if Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi, who filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi, would do the same against Khushbu.

Digvijaya Singh, a party leader and Rajya Sabha MP, even addressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter and asked if he would ask one of his disciples named Modi to file a case against Khushbu.

In response, Khushbu tweeted, "I will not delete my tweet. It’s out there. There are many more. Please use your time, as Congress is absolutely jobless, to dig out a few more."

She added, "I like to see how the Congress is putting me and Rahul Gandhi on the same platform. I like the fact that I have earned enough name and respect to be at par with him, who claims to be the opposition leader of the nation."
