Naidu@1: Jagan, Lokesh launch public outreach campaigns

As the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition in Andhra Pradesh completes one year in office this month, the opposition YSR Congress Party has announced a massive campaign to expose the government’s failures, while the TDP plans a public outreach drive to highlight its achievements.

On Wednesday, YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a five-week programme aimed at showcasing the Naidu government’s unfulfilled promises.

The campaign will compare the TDP’s election manifesto with the actual benefits delivered during the past year.

Addressing an extended party meeting at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli — attended by MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and constituency and regional coordinators — Jagan gave a detailed outline on how to expose the government’s shortcomings using the manifesto as a reference.

He unveiled a QR code containing the TDP’s manifesto and data on the actual benefits extended under various schemes.

Jagan said the aim is to show how much each family has been affected during the past year and what further losses they might face over the next four years.

“This should be contrasted with the benefits people would have received if the YSRCP were still in power. This message must reach every household, down to the village level,” he said.

The YSRCP chief emphasized that the QR code would reveal how much each family was promised under Naidu’s manifesto and how much they actually received. This campaign will unfold in five phases — from the district level to villages.

“Details of various unfulfilled promises and pending dues will also be highlighted,” he added.

“We must make people aware of how they are being deceived, and how blatantly Chandrababu Naidu claims that all promises have been fulfilled,” Jagan said.

He reminded the gathering that Naidu had issued a kind of “bond” last year, listing monetary benefits under different welfare schemes to be rolled out starting June 24.

“It is time for the people to demand the promised benefits, and we must explain this clearly through our five-week campaign,” he said.

Meanwhile, TDP general secretary and state IT minister Nara Lokesh also announced a mega cadre outreach programme.

He said both he and Naidu would interact with five party leaders daily to gather feedback on government schemes and internal party matters.

Lokesh said the coalition government is fulfilling all its Super Six promises — starting with enhanced pensions for senior citizens and free bus travel for women, which is set to begin on August 15.

He urged party workers to launch a door-to-door campaign starting July 2 to inform the public about the government’s achievements over the past year.

He also committed to daily interactions with citizens and party workers to assess the effectiveness of the schemes.
