Leading the pack was Court: State vs A Nobody, produced by Nani. Made on a tightly controlled budget of just Rs. 10 crore, this gripping drama went on to gross Rs. 40.6 crore, making it the most profitable film of the year.
Another blockbuster was Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which cost Rs. 50 crore and earned Rs. 186.9 crore, yielding an impressive 273.8% return and achieving “Super Hit” status.
Meanwhile, the romantic film Single, made on a modest Rs. 14 crore, grossed Rs. 26.71 crore, yielding a strong 90.79% return.
These examples prove that if a film’s budget is kept in check, its chance of becoming a hit increases dramatically.
In today’s market, it’s not always about huge investments or star casts — it’s about making the right film within the right cost boundaries.
