'Kuberaa' Ticket Price Hiked: Is This Wise?

'Kuberaa' Ticket Price Hiked: Is This Wise?

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a 10-day ticket price hike for Kuberaa, a social thriller by Sekhar Kammula, releasing on June 20, 2025.

Ticket rates for higher-class seats can go up by Rs75 + GST in both multiplexes and single screens.

The decision came after a request by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and support from the Telugu Film Chamber, reflecting a more flexible policy from the new government.

Kuberaa now joins other films like Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, Thandel, and HIT 3, which also got similar approvals.

However, unlike big-budget blockbusters like RRR or Pushpa, Kuberaa is a simple, story-based film that may not draw huge crowds on day one.

With limited buzz and no major star pull, many wonder if this ticket hike is a smart move or a gamble. The film’s box office fate now depends on audience word of mouth and early reviews.

It makes sense to raise ticket prices for films with huge hype, packed theatres, and star power. But increasing prices for a film with low buzz and half-empty shows feels unreasonable.

For Kuberaa, this may discourage audiences instead of helping.

Pricing should match demand — raising it without strong footfall risks harming the film’s chances during its most crucial opening days.

We have to see how it unfolds.
