Kuberaa, featuring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh, hit theatres today and is wrapping up a surprisingly strong Day 1 at the Indian box office.
Despite low pre-release buzz, the film has exceeded expectations and is poised to record the second-biggest opening of Dhanush’s career.
The Telugu-Tamil bilingual crime drama opened to mostly positive reviews, with critics and audiences praising Dhanush’s performance and the film’s concept. Word-of-mouth has been favorable, helping boost occupancy throughout the day.
In the Telugu market, Kuberaa saw 39% occupancy in the morning, 55% in the afternoon, and 57% in the evening. Night shows are reportedly running strong.
The Tamil version started slower, with 27% in the morning, 29% in the afternoon, and 31% in the evening, but is seeing a pickup in late shows.
Based on early trends, Kuberaa is expected to earn between ₹13 to ₹14 crore net on its opening day in India.
