Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas’ occult thriller Kishkindhapuri, directed by Kaushik Pegallapati and produced by Sahu Garapati under the Shine Screens banner, is all set to hit theatres on September 12.
Producer Sahu Garapati revealed that he first heard the story in February last year. “I really liked the story. We began shooting in July. It’s a very intriguing narrative set against a horror backdrop,” he said.
Blending elements of horror-thriller and horror-mystery in a fresh and unique manner, Kishkindhapuri revolves around a mysterious voice emanating from a radio and the eerie events that unfold around it. “The concept has been brilliantly executed. I can confidently say that no film like Kishkindhapuri has been made before,” Garapati added.
Kishkindhapuri marks Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas’ first foray into the horror-thriller genre. “He has primarily done commercial mass entertainers until now. His presence in this film is completely fresh, and he has done full justice to the role.”
The story is primarily set within the confines of a house, which was specially constructed for the film at a considerable cost. “We spent 2 crore just on building the set. It took us nearly a month to complete the construction,” said the producer.
Sahu also shared that actress Anupama had long expressed her desire to act in a horror-themed film. “She was our first choice, and she immediately agreed after hearing the story. Her role is performance-driven and will be one of the highlights of the film.”
The producer expressed confidence in the film’s impact on audiences. “The movie has turned out exceptionally well. It offers a viewing experience on par with a Hollywood film. Technically, it’s top-notch.”
Finally, Sahu Garapati confirmed that his upcoming film Mana Shankara Veera Prasad Garu, starring Megastar Chiranjeevi and directed by Anil Ravipudi, will hit cinemas during Sankranthi as planned.
