KCR to contest Medak LS polls?

KCR to contest Medak LS polls?

If the talk going on in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi circles is true, party president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to contest from Medak parliamentary constituency in the next general elections.

According to the reports, KCR might drop out from Gajwel assembly constituency for the state assembly elections. He has been representing the constituency for the last two terms.

The plan to shift from the assembly constituency to parliamentary constituency is in tune with KCR’s decision to enter national politics.

He is of the view that if he enters the parliamentary elections, it would give a new fillip to the party and the chances of TRS bagging nearly 14-15 Lok Sabha seats will be bright.

However, the assembly elections in Telangana will be held at least six months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and if the TRS loses the assembly polls, it will have an impact on KCR’s national political ambitions.

So, sources said, KCR will contest the assembly polls as well and see that the TRS comes to power in the state for the third time. Subsequently, he might drop out from the assembly and contest the Lok Sabha polls, leaving the state to his son K T Rama Rao.

It is learnt KCR will field his erstwhile opponent and present TRS leader Vanteru Pratap Reddy from Gajwel, while he would shift to some constituency in Nalgonda or Warangal districts.

Since he would be contesting the Medak parliamentary seat, sitting MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy would be fielded from Dubbak assembly constituency, which is presently represented by BJP MLA M Raghunandan Rao.
