I'm a star only till 6 pm: Samantha

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, also known as Shakuntala, is leaving no stone unturned in promoting her highly anticipated film, Shaakuntalam, directed by Gunashekar.

The movie is based on the popular Indian play Shakuntala by Kalidasa, with Samantha in the titular role of Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as Dushyanta.

During recent promotional events held in Mumbai and Hyderabad, Samantha expressed her excitement about playing a role that she had always dreamt of as a child.

Although Samantha has previously played gritty and realistic roles like in 'The Family Man 2', she has always been fond of Disney films and princesses.

"Playing a Princess in a film like 'Shaakuntalam' was special, given that she is a symbol of perfection. It was intimidating initially to play such a role. But I have been taking challenges for the past few years," Samantha said.

Producer Dil Raju had a lot of confidence in the script, and Samantha believes that her portrayal of Shakuntala will be an endearing factor for girls, women, and families.

Samantha also spoke about Allu Arjun's daughter Arha's acting debut in Shakuntalaam, stating that she believes families and children will connect with the movie, and Arha's role has come out beautifully alongside the lead characters.

When asked about how life has changed after becoming a Pan-India star, Samantha joked that someone needs to tell her pets that she is a star because she still cleans their poop.

On a more serious note, she stated that her life hasn't changed, and she remains a normal person after 6 pm.

Samantha expressed her gratitude for the fulfilling roles she has been offered, where she gets to do action scenes and not be the typical damsel in distress who always gets saved by the hero.

"It's a new phase for me, and I am absolutely enjoying this phase," she said, adding that she never dreamt of coming this far and feels privileged to have been offered such roles.
