'I Wasn't Comfortable': Anupama on Tillu Square

Anupama Parameswaran has candidly reflected on her role in the Telugu film Tillu Square, admitting that she was never fully at ease with the character she portrayed.

In an interview with media, she explained, “If someone comes and gives me a Tillu-like character now, I won’t do it. Not because the team was bad - everything was great - but I just wasn’t comfortable in my own skin doing that role.”

She revealed that playing Lily opposite Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s DJ Tillu wasn’t a smooth journey.

“It wasn’t easy. I used to feel bad, disappointed, and not confident. That’s not who I am, and I couldn’t be that person,” she said.

Despite the personal discomfort, Anupama took pride in the positive reception.

Tillu Square, directed by Mallik Ram and produced by Sithara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas, turned into a commercial success, and her performance earned praise.

“When people appreciated me, I felt proud. Even though I was uncomfortable, I made the audience believe I was confident - a boss lady who doesn’t care what others think. That’s a big success for me.”

The film, released on March 29, 2024, became a box-office hit despite initial criticism and online trolling aimed at her portrayal.
