Hundreds of Theaters Shut Doors in AP, TS

The exhibition sector of the Telugu film industry is looking at a slump once again. Big-ticket movies queued up for release in the first half of 2022 leaving mid-range and small movies to have a run in the second half of the year.

But, all recent mid-range and small movies turned out to be duds. Audiences have not shown interest to watch them.

The boom of OTT has killed the theatrical prospects for such movies. Adding to the woes, the incessant rains in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh closed the theaters for days.

About 500 to 800 theaters shut their gates this week. Thus they may reduce their electricity bills.

Ram Pothineni’s “The Warriorr” should save the theaters. They will be opened on 14th July when “Warriorr” gets released.

But the film may not save the exhibition sector with no major big star movie coming in the near future after this Ram starrer. So, all hopes are on this film.
