The much awaited Tollywood period action film 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' suffered due to repeated delays, which led to a steady decline in its buzz.
The promotional content lacked spark and failed to create anticipation before release. Still, the film opened on a strong note, powered mainly by the image of Pawan Kalyan.
However, negative audience response caused a sharp drop from the second day onward.
On day one, Hari Hara Veera Mallu recorded Pawan Kalyan’s best opening ever with a net collection of Rs 47.5 crore including premiere shows.
Over the next twelve days, the film added only Rs 36.8 crore, making the total Rs 84.3 crore net at the Indian box office in thirteen days. The gross figure after GST is Rs 99.47 crore. If this is gross, then the share will be not more than Rs 45 Cr.
In the USA, rights were purchased for Rs 10 crore with Rs 8 crore paid. It earned $1.1 million (Rs 9.7 crore) gross but after all the costs, incurred a loss of Rs 4 crore. In Canada, it was sold for Rs 30 lakh and managed to break even.
Pawan Kalyan’s film was reportedly made on a huge budget of ₹300 crore. However, it has only earned ₹84.3 crore net so far. Due to this big gap, the film has become one of the biggest flops in recent Tollywood history.
Fans are now hoping that he makes a strong comeback with his upcoming film, OG.
