Superstar Rajinikanth has an extended guest role in his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's new directorial venture.
The film, "Lal Salaam," was initially scheduled for release during the Sankranthi festival but was postponed for some undisclosed reason.
The makers have now officially announced a new release date of February 9.
"Lal Salaam" will be in direct competition with Ravi Teja's "Eagle" in the Telugu market. Ravi Teja had aimed for a solo release on February 9, having "sacrificed" the Sankranthi date.
The unexpected announcement of Rajinikanth's film, however, adds an element of surprise.
Although "Lal Salaam" is not considered Rajinikanth's film in the lead role, as he plays an extended guest role, it will still provide some competition.
