The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas in the lead, continues to underperform at the Indian box office. Despite opening on a decent note, the big-budget film has failed to sustain momentum, largely due to negative word of mouth.
Even the Bhogi holiday on its first Wednesday (Day 6) offered only marginal relief, with collections still remaining far below expectations.
The horror-comedy, directed by Maruthi, has seen sharp drops since the start of the weekdays.
Owing to the ongoing Sankranti festive period, Day 6 witnessed a slight uptick, with the film earning an estimated ₹5.25 crore net. This marked a modest growth of around 9.3% over Day 5’s ₹4.8 crore. However, the overall trend continues to be discouraging.
After six days, The Raja Saab has collected approximately ₹124.65 crore net in India, translating to about ₹147.08 crore gross.
Considering the film’s reported budget of ₹400 crore, it needed to earn a similar amount in net collections to reach the breakeven zone. At present, the film has recovered only around 31% of its budget.
With more than ₹275 crore still required to enter the safe zone, trade circles believe that such a turnaround is highly unlikely.
Given the weak audience response, the film is expected to struggle to even cross ₹175 crore net in India, putting it on track to become one of the biggest box-office disasters in recent Tollywood history.
Produced by T. G. Vishwa Prasad under the People Media Factory banner, The Raja Saab also features Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, and Zarina Wahab in key roles.
The film released theatrically on January 9.
