Rishab Shetty’s mythological action epic Kantara: Chapter 1 continues its unstoppable run at the box office, outperforming several major Indian releases.
The film, which serves as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, delves into the ancient origins of the Bhuta Kola ritual featured in the first part.
Also starring Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth, and Jayaram, the film has struck gold both in India and overseas.
In its first five days, Kantara: Chapter 1 amassed ₹256.75 crore net in India and a massive ₹368 crore worldwide gross.
On Day 6, the film collected around ₹33.50 crore net, pushing its domestic total past ₹290 crore and its worldwide gross beyond ₹400 crore, according to early estimates by Sacnilk.
Released on October 2, 2025, in Kannada along with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, Kantara: Chapter 1 has now surpassed the global earnings of War 2, Adipurush, and They Call Him OG, cementing its place as the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 - behind Chhaava, Saiyaara, and Coolie.
The original Kantara (2022) was a box-office phenomenon, collecting ₹310 crore net in India and ₹414 crore worldwide.
With its current trajectory, Kantara: Chapter 1 is poised to overtake the lifetime total of the first part, becoming the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, behind only Yash’s KGF Chapter 2, which grossed ₹1,200 crore globally in 2022.
With such momentum, Rishab Shetty’s latest outing is not just a regional hit but a true pan-India box-office storm, solidifying Hombale Films’ dominance across industries.
