Coolie, one of the most awaited Indian films of 2025, is set to release on August 14.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film stars Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, supported by a star-studded cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and a cameo by Bollywood icon Aamir Khan.
This marks Rajinikanth’s first entry into Lokesh Kanagaraj’s cinematic universe, known for blockbusters like Kaithi, Master, Vikram, and Leo.
While the buzz around the film is at its peak, reports have surfaced revealing how much the director and actors charged.
Rajinikanth has reportedly taken home between ₹150 crore and ₹250 crore, keeping his position as one of the highest-paid actors in the country even at the age of 74.
Telugu megastar Nagarjuna, who plays the antagonist Simon, is said to have charged between ₹24 crore and ₹30 crore for the role - a part Rajinikanth himself has described as a well-written villain character.
Aamir Khan, making a cameo appearance, did not charge a single rupee for his role, calling it a gesture of deep respect for Rajinikanth.
Shruti Haasan has reportedly been paid ₹4 crore for her intense role alongside Rajinikanth’s character Deva.
Pooja Hegde, who appears in the special song Monica composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has charged ₹3 crore for her performance.
Veteran actor Sathyaraj, reuniting with Rajinikanth after several years, has reportedly taken ₹5 crore for his role.
Kannada star Upendra Rao is said to have charged ₹4 crore, while Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir has earned ₹1 crore for his part in the film.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj himself has reportedly charged ₹50 crore for helming the project.
With its massive budget, star power, and staggering salaries, Coolie is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most ambitious films in Indian cinema.
