Buzz: Balakrishna's Pay Rise Shocks Industry

There was a time when Balakrishna struggled with flops, but in his second innings, he has been delivering back-to-back hits.

Interestingly, for many years, Balayya was one of the lowest-paid stars in the industry — his remuneration was far below that of most top heroes.

Even during the time of Veera Simha Reddy and Bhagavanth Kesari, his fee hovered around ₹15 to ₹18 crore.

Getting a chance to work with Balakrishna isn't easy — he has his own set of conditions. Yet, many filmmakers have tried, knowing that a successful film with him can bring solid returns.

But now, Balayya too has changed. With a consistent streak of hits, he’s reportedly increased his remuneration significantly.

Even though his recent film Daaku Maharaaj didn’t meet expectations, his fee is said to have gone up to match other top-tier heroes.

For the upcoming Akhanda 2, Balakrishna is reportedly charging ₹35 crore. For his next project with Gopichand Malineni, his remuneration is said to be ₹45 crore.

If Balayya is being paid ₹45 crore and the director gets around ₹15 crore, then with additional expenses like production costs and other remunerations, the budget could easily cross ₹120 crore. At that scale, making profits becomes a challenging task.
