For a change, senior YSR Congress party leader and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy turned his attack towards Jana Sena Party chief and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan.
On Wednesday, Bhumana took a satirical dig at the deputy chief minister for instructing the authorities to see that Pulicat lake is made into a permanent habitat for flamingo birds, migrating from thousands of miles, during the winter season.
Taking to his social media platform X, Pawan suggested that Pulicat be developed into a major eco-tourism destination, serving as a year-round sanctuary for migratory birds, particularly flamingos that arrive from Siberia every winter.
“The arrival of these Siberian flamingos, who travel thousands of kilometres, is a visual delight for us all. They stay for about six months in Pulicat for food and rest. Every year, we celebrate their arrival through the Flamingo Festival, which draws nearly 7–8 lakh bird lovers from across the state,” he said.
He said he had directed forest officials to take special care over the next three months to ensure the safety of flamingos, adding that the government aims to create favourable conditions for the birds to stay permanently.
However, his remarks triggered a satirical response from Bhuma, who mocked at the proposal, while giving an impression that he was welcoming it.
“Your suggestion is commendable, Pawan,” Bhumana said sarcastically.
“Your very name combines ‘Pawan’ (air) and ‘Kalyan’ (welfare) — both elements of nature. Just as you wish to create permanent homes for flamingos, we request you to do the same for Pulasa fish that travel hundreds of kilometres from sea into the Godavari river,” he said.
He also gave another suggestion: “Perhaps, keep Andhra Pradesh cool throughout the year by controlling the weather during April and May,” he quipped.
Bhumana went on to add: “As a protector of Sanatana Dharma, you must ensure there are no mishaps on roads, in temples, or due to alcohol. You wish to control the birds in the sky and fish in the water — may nature grant you that power. The people have already realised the depth of your wisdom.”
