It has been more than a decade since senior actor and former Union minister – megastar Chiranjeevi relinquished active politics and is now completely focussed on his films. Yet, some people continue to target him politically.
This was pointed out by Chiranjeevi himself while participating in a blood donation drive organised by the Phoenix Foundation.
He said he has completely distanced himself from politics; yet some people on social media are targeting him with harsh and false comments.
“But I never felt the need to respond to political criticism. The service I have done and the love and affection I have received are my shield. I don’t need to speak — the good I have done will speak for itself. Though I am away from politics, some political leaders continue to criticise me,” Chiranjeevi said.
He recalled that a political leader made unwarranted remarks against him. Later, when he visited a region, a woman there confronted him emotionally, questioning why he felt the need to speak ill about Chiranjeevi.
“I found that video and learned more about her. She told me that years ago, her child’s life was saved through the Chiranjeevi Blood Bank, and that's why she respects me deeply. Her words moved my heart,” he said.
He said many people ask him why he did not respond to the criticism on social media.
“I never react, because my good deeds and the love from my fans are my protection. I don’t have to speak — my goodness will speak for me. That’s the truth,” he said.
Referring to the earlier incident, Chiranjeevi said after that woman spoke out, the politician never again made any negative comments about him.
“Even politicians have a heart. Maybe he said those things in a moment of anger, but once back home, even his wife might have told him not to repeat such things,” he said.
