At last, journalist Krishnam Raju arrested

Self-styled journalist V V R Krishnam Raju, who recently made alleged derogatory comments against Amaravati women during a debate on Sakshi television channel, was arrested by the police on Wednesday night.

According to reports, Krishnam Raju, the primary accused (A-1) in the case, was taken into custody in Visakhapatnam.

He had been absconding ever since his controversial remarks on Sakshi TV sparked public outrage.

On Wednesday night, police tracked his location using cell tower data near the Gosthani River in Bheemunipatnam (Bheemili) and apprehended him.

Two individuals who were accompanying him were also taken into custody. All three are reportedly being transported from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada.

Krishnam Raju made highly offensive comments, referring to Amaravati as "a capital of prostitutes, not goddesses."

His remarks, aired on Sakshi TV, were widely condemned as an attack on the dignity of women, triggering widespread backlash.

Earlier, a case was registered by Tulluru police in Guntur district against both Krishnam Raju — editor of a magazine — and Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, Sakshi TV anchor, for their inappropriate comments against Amaravati women.

Kommineni has already been arrested and was remanded to 14 days in judicial custody by the Mangalagiri court.
