AP's Battle With Nimmagadda Is Not Over Yet

The State government’s virtual battle with the State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar seems to be not ending with the closing of Gram Panchayat elections on February 21.

According to the schedule, the election process for the panchayats will end on February 21.

The state government was of the view that Nimmagadda may not force the MPTC, ZPTC and municipal elections after the panchayat elections.

However, sources in the State Election Commission indicate that Nimmagadda wants to take the battle till the date of his retirement or even further.

The sources say that Nimmagadda is preparing the schedule for the MPTC and ZPTC elections and in all probability he is likely to issue the notification on February 22, a day after the panchayat elections.

He is likely to keep the state government tied-up with the election schedule till he retires and wants every minister, including the chief minister, to be restricted to their offices until he steps out of his office.

Sources say that the SEC is also preparing the notification for the municipal elections and it is likely to be released in the first week of March.

Nimmagadda, the sources say, wants to complete all elections in the state before he retires.

It is to be seen what the State government, particularly chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy would do to counter Nimmagadda’s plans.
