Akhanda 2 To Miss a Major Milestone Due to Lower-Than-Expected Buzz?

Akhanda 2 To Miss a Major Milestone Due to Lower-Than-Expected Buzz?

Akhanda 2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, is just five days away from release. After Pawan Kalyan’s OG, it is the next and final big-ticket Tollywood release of 2025.

Given that it’s a sequel, expectations were sky-high; but surprisingly, the on-ground buzz is far lower than expected as we inch closer to the December 5 release.

With this lukewarm hype, the film may miss a major Indian box office milestone on its opening day.

The action drama follows Akhanda (2021), which performed strongly despite COVID restrictions and later gained massive traction on OTT.

Naturally, this built enormous anticipation for the sequel. However, the promotional material this time has failed to create the required momentum.

Akhanda 2 is Balayya’s most expensive film to date, reportedly made on a budget of ₹200 crore. But despite the scale, the production value and VFX appear underwhelming in the teasers and trailer.

Even beyond the technical concerns, the promotional content lacks the punch needed to elevate the pre-release hype.

As a result, the film’s buzz is not matching expectations. It will still take a strong opening, but it may fall short of a milestone previously considered well within reach.

Thanks to the goodwill of the first film, Akhanda 2 was expected to challenge the ₹50 crore net mark on day one in India—something that would have made it Balakrishna’s first-ever ₹50 crore opening. But with the current momentum, this milestone now appears unlikely.

There is still time for the film to pick up steam in the final days. Let’s hope the excitement grows before it hits theatres.
