After being postponed by a week, Akhanda 2 starring Nandamuri Balakrishna finally hit theatres worldwide this Friday (December 12).
The film serves as a sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda, with Balakrishna once again playing dual roles.
Directed by Boyapati Srinu, who also helmed the first part, the movie continues directly from where the original storyline ended.
Despite the delay, Akhanda 2 opened strongly at the box office. Including paid premieres on Thursday (December 11), the film has already collected over ₹24 crore nett in India and is expected to close its first day in the ₹25–30 crore nett range.
The Telugu version recorded healthy occupancy throughout the day, with morning shows at 47.24%, afternoon shows at 46.18%, and evening shows touching 60%.
Overseas, the film has begun well too. In the USA alone, Akhanda 2 grossed $452,000 from premiere shows, marking Balakrishna’s fourth-highest premiere day performance.
In North India, the film opened to around 9% occupancy, although the screen count remains very limited.
