SS Rajamouli’s stepson, SS Karthikeya, along with producer Varun Gupta, had been quietly developing plans to announce a biopic on the father of Indian cinema — Dadasaheb Phalke.
Reports in Bollywood media even suggested that Jr. NTR was being considered for the lead role.
Naturally, NTR fans began trending the news online, thrilled at the prospect of their favorite star portraying such an iconic figure. However, in a surprising twist, Aamir Khan’s team made an unexpected announcement.
It is now reported that Aamir Khan will be playing Dadasaheb Phalke in a new biopic directed by Rajkumar Hirani. This would mark their third collaboration after the blockbusters 3 Idiots and PK.
What’s more, the Aamir – Hirani duo is said to be planning to take the project onto the sets as early as October 2025.
If true, this move could effectively sideline Rajamouli’s team and their plans for a Phalke biopic featuring Jr. NTR in the lead.
