A Great Win, but Why are Stars Making Hungama?

A Great Win, but Why are Stars Making Hungama?

The Oscars are being celebrated throughout India. "Naatu Naatu" from "RRR" made history as the first Indian production film song to win an Oscar.

Everyone, from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chief Ministers, congratulated the team on their historic achievement.

This is a proud moment for all Telugus and Indians around the world. The achievement, however, must be attributed to composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose.

Although Prem Rakshit did not win an Oscar, it was his choreography that made the world dance. Rahul Sipilgunj and Kaala Bhairava are also deserving of recognition. Rajamouli's vision should be recognized as well. Both NTR and Ram Charan, who are exceptional dancers, should be proud of their performances for the song.

Everything is fine. But the actors went overboard when they claimed to be global stars.

NTR donned a black ensemble with a tiger motif embroidered on his shoulder. He declared that it is a symbol of India because the tiger is the national animal. According to some, he was literally displaying his moniker "Young Tiger" on the Oscar stage.

However, using hashtags like #NTRGoesGlobal and #RamCharanTheGlobalStar adds little value. All of this hungama will be forgotten in a matter of days. The real test will be the market and collections for their next film.
